I’ve been intending to start a blog for a couple of years. Yes, years. I kept putting it off because I didn’t know if I really wanted my thoughts and writings to be “out there” for everyone to read. What changed my mind? Facebook, strangely enough. I’d think of something I thought was interesting or something I wanted to put out there for comment, but I didn’t have enough room! Hence, the blog. It gives me more room.
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t asking questions or wondering about something. It seems a part of me as much as my height or the color of my eyes. I remember dinners with the family and asking my parents a question and my father saying, “look it up” because he wanted me to learn how to find answers for myself rather than rely on others to answer them for me. I remember my dad playing devil’s advocate when discussing current events or politics. By doing this he made me think critically about my questions and opinions.
My questions and wonderings and opinions are as varied as me. I am a mother and a martial artist. A dancer and a writer. A quiet reader and a rowdy old school video game player. A Lord of the Rings geek and a drummer. A lay historian and lover of heavy metal. And so much more…
I called this blog “Examine it All” because that’s what I do. I examine my world because I believe what Socrates said, “an unexamined life is not worth living.”
